The Nokia N97 mini has hit the markets just a few months behind the original N97. The new Nokia mini phone is the smaller and updated version of the original. It is high on style and boasts some really good features. Besides being smaller and sleeker, it has been tweaked with better functionality, memory optimization and keyboard space. It also comes with a lower price tag, making it all the more attractive to buyers.
Originally released in just a black casing the N97 Mini has now been launched in two new colour schemes, the Nokia N97 Mini White and Garnet editions.
GARNET
In terms of looks, this phone looks like the miniature version of the first model. It is a slider phone where the front panel slides back to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. Memory space in this handset has been reduced to 8 GB in contrast to the 32 GB of the original. You can expand memory by 16 GB using a microSD card. The N97 Mini offers you a great deal of features to personalize your homescreen. You can add widgets and receive live feeds from web sites like CNN, Elle, Facebook etc. You can also add shortcuts to contacts and applications on the homepage. Similarly, you can add widgets to e-mail accounts, music, social networking sites and calendar so that you can mage them effortlessly. You can also sync Outlook contacts. The document viewer enables you to view attachments in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and PDF formats.
Social networking is another key feature. The Lifecasting feature enables you to update your Facebook status directly from the homescreen. You can also update your location thanks to the combination of Ovi maps and GPS.
The GPS features also deserve a mention. It comes with A-GPS and pre-installed Nokia Maps. In addition, you get access to content from Lonely Planet, Michelin and Wcities.
The 5 mega pixel camera with Carl-Zeiss lens comes with features like geo tagging, dual LED flash, video light etc. Video recording is also possible. You can also edit videos and images.
Media features on this handset are quite standard. The audio and video players support files in almost all popular formats.
